#LetsMET: Discover your Tokyo at HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO IKEBUKURO

Thinking of visiting the heart of Japan? Tokyo (東京) is a city with endless possibilities for tourists like you and me. But with so many places to see and so many things to do, choosing the right accommodation that can get you to your sightseeing destinations with ease and convenience may seem like a daunting task to most. The best way to discover your own Tokyo is with easily-accessible, super convenient hotels under the JR-EAST HOTELS brand; one of such is the HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO IKEBUKURO (ホテルメトロポリタン 池袋).

Full of fashion retailers, anime collectables, gourmet and downhome cuisine and entertainment complexes, Ikebukuro is just a stone’s throw away from the bustling nightlife of Shinjuku. With HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO IKEBUKURO located just around the corner of JR Ikebukuro Station (池袋駅 Ikebukuro-eki)—one of Tokyo’s busiest stations—getting to your destinations is as convenient as it gets especially with the city’s popular loop service Yamanote Line (山手線 Yamanote-sen). Of course, guests staying at the hotel can relax and enjoy all the hotel has to offer, such as taking in the hotel’s night views over dinner or savouring Japanese cuisine.

HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO IKEBUKURO is not just a place to stay either—a night here guarantees an immersive cultural experience unlike any other. The hotel also holds many events, such as regular demonstrations of giant tuna being carved up and mini-concerts in the hotel lobby. When choosing which room to stay in, there is the Japanese Suite suitable for travellers visiting with up to five guests. The relaxation of the Japanese aesthetic and the convenience of the Western-style blend harmoniously to create a modern impression. Beds are incorporated into Japanese-style living, with tatami (畳) mats and tokonoma (床の間) alcove, creating a design that offers both function and soothing Japanese style.

In this room, it introduces JR East's conventional online train simulator, produced by Ongakukan Co., Ltd., (株式会社音楽館) and supervised by JR East.

Utilising the special room in a connecting twin bedroom, is the Driver’s Cabin. In the bedroom, the “on-time wake-up device【SAC-5A type】” (定刻起床装置個人簡易型[SAC-5A型]) is placed beside the bed. This is the actual device used in Tokyo’s train stations and train crew’s nap room. In the Driver’s Cabin, a large 65-inch 4K LCD screen can be found, as well as a mascon unit (マスコンユニット) that faithfully reproduces the actual one used in JR East trains.
