Experience Kanagawa in Singapore at JAPAN RAIL CAFE’s Retail Corner!

Hungry for a taste of Kanagawa (神奈川)? JAPAN RAIL CAFE is featuring Kanagawa Prefecture for the month of July with a selection of retail items from Japan—some of which are from homegrown brands from Kanagawa. Featuring over 15 different types of products, the items range from drinks to food and novelty items.

Ichi-Go-Can Sake Set (9 cans)

Looking for a unique but an extravagant housewarming gift for sake lovers or to bring to a party? The Ichi-Go-Can Sake Set comes with nine 180ml canned high-grade sake, and it made its debut in sunny Singapore in March 2022! These cans have beautiful designs and due to its compact size, makes for a perfect way to try the different types of sake from not just Kanagawa but all across Japan. In addition, due to its compact size, they do not take up much space if kept in the refrigerator!

 

NOZAWA Shonan Gold Citrus Cider

Made using freshly squeezed Shonan Gold (湘南ゴールド) juice, Kanagawa Prefecture’s very own citrus variety. The carbonated drink is refreshing to drink. It can also be enjoyed as a sorbet by chilling the drink in the freezer, or as a mixer with beer and other liquor.

 

NOZAWA Odawara Mandarin Cider

The Odawara Mandarin Cider is a cider that is made with Wenshu mandarin (温州みかん Wenshu mikan) harvested in Odawara City (小田原市 Odawara-shi). Since ancient times, these oranges have been actively cultivated in the warm climate of Kanagawa Prefecture, and are known for their sweetness with a slight tartness.

 

NATURE Shonan Gold Citrus Juice

It doesn't get any fresher than this! Made using freshly squeezed Shonan Gold, this delicious fruit juice is available at JAPAN RAIL CAFE, and is also a main feature in the cafe’s Monthly Menu: Shonan Hiyashi Chuka

 

NOZAWA SAKUZO Shonan Gold Orange Drops

This retro and fashionably designed can is inspired by the Sea of Shonan. Containing drops made with Shonan Gold, it has a hint of sweet and sour flavour that leaves a refreshing taste in your mouth. This cute can also makes for a perfect souvenir for you to bring home.

 

RORIAN Delicious Preserved Cookies

The popular Rorian Cookie now comes in a form of “reserve of emergency” cookie can, sturdily packed and sealed airtight with a long shelf life. The delicious cookies come in a mix of vanilla and cocoa flavour. Meant for long-term storage (5 years), these cookies can be enjoyed not only as preserved foods but also as regular snacks, carry-on cookies for mountain climbing, and as gifts. 

 

CHINRIU Uragoshibainiku White and Red Umeboshi Paste

The seeds of white dried umeboshi (梅干し dried plum) are removed, and the flesh is strained to create a smooth purée. Since there are no seeds, it is convenient as a topping or dressing for onigiri, sushi rolls, salad dressing, and even just on a bed of rice. 

 

YOKOHAMA BEER Hefe Weizen and Yokohama Lager

Did you know that Yokohama is the birthplace of beer culture in Japan? Hailing from Yokohama Brewery—one of Japan’s oldest microbreweries for craft beers—is the Yokohama Beer Hefe Weizen and Yokohama Lager. The Hefe Weizen is a fruity-scented white beer that is popular with people who do not usually drink beer, while the Yokohama Lager is the perfect balance of refreshing aroma reminiscent of hop-derived citrus fruits and a firm bitterness.

 

CHOSHIYA Black Sugar Syrup

This special blend of black sugar (黒蜜 kuromitsu) is characterised by its slight sweetness. Its refined taste and aroma pairs well with not only traditional Japanese desserts such as mochi or red beans, but also goes well when paired with yoghurt or toast.

Made in collaboration with Yokohama Beer, these hand towels come in 5 different colours—the same as those of the types of beer from Yokohama Brewery. The hand towel is soft and is easy to dry should it be used outdoors such as camping.
