If the dish has some level of western influence (think curry, omelette rice, pasta), then it can be considered a yōshoku (洋食), or western-style dish. However if it's something that was made in or developed mostly or entirely in Japan, then that dish is a part of washoku (和食), a common way of saying traditional Japanese cuisine.
